In Between?(Muiltimedia Project)
In Between? is a set of multimedia projects that study two completely different, culturally driven, visual language systems and structures on communication design outcomes.
The project explore the typographic differences between Chinese characters and Latin Alphabets. It also questions the existing globalizing design/type trend and the boundary of cross-culture design.
Chapter 01: Understanding.(Editorial design)
Books study the typographic differences between the Latin alphabet and Chinese characters. Books can be read in both regular and expanded ways. The aim is to organize my research and help the audience have a basic understanding of the typographic structure of two languages. By designing books into 2 small pieces allows the audience to have a clear view and compare the contents simultaneously while reading.
Chapter 02: My Voice!(Interaction Design)
(Motion Design)
A body interaction piece that presents differences in typographic structures of two languages, and the possible consequences that we applying rules and styles from two different languages writing systems to each other. After understanding all the differences and consequences will you still merge them?
Chapter 03: Possibility?(Interaction Design)
(Motion Design)
A body interaction piece that explores the possibility of Italic/Oblique types with hand interaction. It allows the audiences to see and feel the limitation of cross-culture design, the boundary of Italic/Oblique type in this content more specifically.
